This Berlin tour takes you on a journey through the citys amazing history uncovering some of its most iconic buildings and other sites of historic significance. Get set to be taken on a stroll through the citys colorful history and unique modern culture. Starting off at the very heart of Berlins new government quarter we shall meet our local guide in front of the Reichstag at the Big German Flag in front of the main entrance hearing from him afterwards some amazing story about this world-renowned building. Well get up close and personal to some of the original sites of the apocalyptic Battle of Berlin in 1945 which put an end to the horrors of Nazi Germany. Of course times have changed greatly in Germany and Berlin is no exception. While strolling through the citys streets well explore the political upheavals that have occurred over the decades and learn something about modern Berlin culture. Our guides have their own pictures original documents as well as old and new maps which make the citys past just as memorable and alive as it was during the time. Then well also hear about some countless historic events modern places and landmarks that have made Berlin what it is today. Brandenburg Gate and the beautiful Pariser Platz are a couple of the famous landmarks we shall see on this adventure. Next well walk through the Memorial dedicated to the massacred Jews of Europe a strong emotional expression of Germany dealing with the holocaust and the troubled aspects of its aftermath. Learn more about one of historys most notorious tyrants Adolf Hitler when we localize the almost forgotten site of his bunker where he hid out during the final battle of World War II. Step back in time as we pass by former Nazi Ministries the "Topography of Terror" and Checkpoint Charlie. Over a tasty sample of original Berlin Currywurst you will hear stories of Cold War GDR fugitives and daily life in the divided Germany including a stop at "The Wall." Well visit the site where the young Peter Fechter was murdered by border guards in 1961 continuing to what is now widely regarded as the most beautiful place of Berlin Gendarmenmarkt. Then well head to some of Berlins Grand Boulevards including Friedrichstrasse and Unter den Linden the historic location where the infamous book burning of 1933 took place. Then afterwards well go to the famous Humboldt University. The tour will end in a part of the city considered as a fantastic historical and cultural melting pot - where well see some of the worlds famous museums beautiful old churches and hidden gems to uncover. On Saturdays there is even a quirky flea market - good fun and typical for Berlin! On our walk well pass one of Berlins oldest chocolate makers where the citys most iconic buildings are rebuilt in chocolate. Its a sight to behold - and of course a delicious treat to savor!
