Collections of the National Museum in Warsaw are more than 800 000 exhibits - Polish art and the world. They come from all eras, from ancient times to the present day, and includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, photographs, coins, and art works. Singletons are Faras Gallery (Europe's largest collection of art and culture from the period of early Christian Nubian), Art Gallery of Medieval (unique sculptures, panel paintings and silversmith from all regions historically associated with the Polish in the Middle Ages, supplemented by medieval works of art created in other areas Europe) and the largest Polish painting "Battle of Grunwald" by Jan Matejko (426 x 987 cm). A special place in the collection of paintings occupy repossessed, stolen from the National Museum in Warsaw during World War II, "Oranges" by Alexander Gierymski, "In the painter's" Leon Wyczółkowski, "witch hunt hunting in Nieśwież" Julian Fałat and "Negro" by Anna Bilińska. Currently, they are subject to maintenance, so that they can be presented to the public. State of the art LED lighting, which can boast of only a few museums in the world, is the pride of the National Museum in Warsaw. LED lights allow you to adjust the light intensity for each image separately in order to bring out its best qualities. The seat of the National Museum is a modernist building standmonths in one of the busiest places in Warsaw - near the Poniatowski Bridge and Charles de Gaulle Roundabout. Lovely place to relax in the courtyard them. Professor Stanisław Lorentz with benches and chairs, a fountain and a cozy cafe Cafe Lorentz. (Professor Lorentz was the director of the National Museum in Warsaw in the years 1936-1982, a very senior in the rescue of the most valuable works of art during World War II).
