About Best of Rome by Night
Theres something magical about Rome in the evening - something otherworldly about the Ancient City when tourists go home for dinner and the major sights so busy during the day are given over to a sense of calm. See Rome in a different light on our Rome by Night Tour that covers more major sights of Rome than we could ever manage during the day and takes in some of the citys best views at their most photogenic time. Our group meets at a central Rome wine bar to start our tour off right with a glass of quality Italian wine and a selection of delectable regional appetizers. This aperitivo a traditional pre-dinner drink with hors doeuvres is on us - a special arrangement for those traveling on our tours. Full of wine and chat well depart on an easy-going walking tour around the historic center of Rome at 715 pm. Well visit the Spanish Steps more atmospheric now than any other time of day and the Trevi Fountain admire the Pantheon from outside and visit the ever-popular Piazza Navona with its incredible Bernini Four Rivers fountain. After that well make our way towards the Tiber to hop on a bus for the next leg of our evening adventure. Our bus tour takes us past eerie Castel SantAngelo to St. Peters Square and St. Peters Basilica. Closed at this hour the heart of the Vatican is entirely different to how it seems during the day. Well stop for photos and your guide will give you a rundown of the site before were back on the bus to one of the unexpected highlights of our tour - Janiculum Hill Gianicolo. This is by far the most beautiful view in Rome with the Ancient City laid out at its feet. Spot the dome of the Pantheon the so-called Wedding Cake and behind that the Colosseum. The tours not over yet though. After the Gianicolo well get back on the bus and drive past the Piazza Venezia. As before your guide will point out memorable sights of Rome as we pass them and explain their significance. Well pass Trajans Column on our way to a spectacular finish at the Colosseum more imposing by night than day. Here your guide will introduce you to gladiators empires and the nearby Roman Forum piquing your interest on one of the worlds most iconic structures. This may be our last stop but the night is young yet. Well leave you here at the Colosseum the perfect location from which to catch a metro go for a romantic stroll or find dinner in the popular Monti area.
